Custom Mudroom: Room for Everyone. Even the Shoes

A busy household needs storage that can keep up—but that doesn’t mean every inch needs to be filled. Upper cabinets provide just enough behind-the-door storage to keep the bench top clear, while their compact footprint keeps this cozy mudroom feeling open and inviting.

Below, hooks put the grab-and-go essentials exactly where they’re needed: jackets, bags, and whatever else happens to come through the door that day. The L-shaped bench adds a comfortable spot to sit, with two tiers of open shoe storage tucked underneath and easy to see at a glance.

There’s room for the shoes everyone reaches for, seasonal boots, and the pairs that seem to multiply on their own. Open storage makes it easy to spot what you’re looking for—and, ideally, put it back where it belongs.

It’s a simple mix of concealed cabinet storage, easy-access hooks, and visible shoe storage—designed around the way this family actually comes and goes.
